Darius will fight for a smart, national energy policy that will not only save the earth, but also save us money in the long-run.
Our nation can no longer afford our unhealthy addiction to oil – specifically foreign oil. Darius will fight to end the subsidies and tax breaks that the Bush Administration has handed out to their friends in Big Oil. If we want to combat high gas prices and overcome our overdependence on foreign oil, we must invest in alternative energy sources.
Darius will foster the development of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies for a cleaner, healthier environment. He’ll push for investments in solar, hydro and wind power, as well as bio fuels – which in turn will also create high-paying, green-collar jobs. And he will invest in technological innovations that protect our environment, save consumers money and strengthen our economy.
Darius will fight to make sure we have clean air and clean water. He’ll attack both new and traditional forms of pollution and hold accountable those who cause the damage. Darius will stand up to protect our natural resources for future generations. Right now, there are some two dozen brownfield cleanup projects that are stalled in the Capital Region – from South Troy to Glenville to NL Industries in Albany. In Congress, Darius will work hard to bring crucial funding for environmental protection and restoration projects back home to the 21st District.
