Our country’s greatest generation built America into what it is today. And Darius believes we must honor our parents and grandparents by making sure they can retire with dignity and security while enjoying good health.
Darius will continue Congressman McNulty’s legacy of looking out for our senior citizens and those living on a fixed-income. Darius will beat back against the Bush legacy of irresponsible budgets that threaten to bankrupt our pension system. Social Security protects tens of millions of retirees and lifts millions more seniors above the poverty line. Darius will fight Republican attempts to privatize Social Security or any other unwise schemes that would dismantle this sacred compact.
Darius will also make good on the healthcare and services our seniors have been promised in their golden years. No one should ever have to choose between filling their prescription bottles and heating their home. As Congresswoman Gillibrand’s Capital District representative, Darius worked with seniors who were being forced to make hard financial choices and who have been hurt by bureaucracy. He fought for people who need Social Security disability and are facing losing their homes because Social Security system takes too long for the judges to make a decision.
In Congress, Darius will stand up for our seniors. He will fight for more affordable prescriptions, protect patients’ rights and safeguard hard-earned pensions.
